About Us

The concept of an independent Internet -based culture television was born in the Warsaw district of Żoliborz in spring 2009. At the beginning of September that year two strong personalities- Marcin Willman, Web project designer and Mateusz Szlachtycz, graduate of the Film School in Łódż and member of TVP Kultura team for many years- brought Face2FaceTV to life. The conquest of Internet had thus began. The power of attraction of Facebook was used to seduce a wider audience. FB users received invitations to become our fans. So far our project has been an off-budget initiative. Our capital consists solely of our passion, good networking, widely available Web-based tools, but predominantly of our professional experience. Our team members are young and committed filmmakers and journalists. Professional background is the key requirement. We are interested in cooperation with all art and culture aficionados.

Telly-free TV?

Definitely. We firmly believe that the era of traditional television has come to an end. At least in terms of the quality of content. The number of telly-free viewers has grown significantly since the broadband Internet became a commonly available commodity. Traditonal television is no longer a monopolist on the media market. On the other hand, Internet has turned into a monstrous dumping ground for poor quality content. Consequently, there is a need for carefully selected, both technically and substantively elligible products. Our focus is on films and video content, therefore our product is called Internet- based TV. One of our slogans goes: switch from the telly to face2facetv. It echoes the post-punk rebellion and its DIY philosophy. If you deny something, do it yourself and do it better. Internet offers the only opportunity to do TV better so that the latter really reflects our needs and expectations.

Internet- based culture TV?

On traditional TV channels, culture as such is writhing in agony. TVP Kultura appears to be the only exception. Face2facetv.pl focuses on street and underground culture, alternative and experimental artists, such as a free jazz saxophonist and composer Ken Vandermark. Our intention is to broaden the spectrum of topics and to promote originality, innovativeness, comprehensibility, audacity and authenticity. We offer the content comprising of films, comic strip, gigs and literature. Our flagship series „Faces” is an attempt to introduce our viewers to the young and inspiring artists, such as Pati Yang, Mikołaj Grospierre, Ras Luta and Paweł Dunin Wąsowicz. Our ambition is to become a gauge of what is „hot” in the world of young art.

What next?

Planet Doc Review is the first large festival which we cover. We are planning to set up cooperation with producers of other cultural events. Currently we are improving our capacity to provide direct multi –camera online transmissions. Viewers will be able to get access to them on their mobile phones. After all, Poland is a true land of opportunity where ideas abound.
